Christmas

Christmas to me shouts presents and its also a great day for my sister, jesus its her birthday so she sometimes gets huge presents. like last year she got a trip to Australia . This year I hope to get that too.

My best Christmas was when My family and me went to Christchurch to celebrate with my grandparents.It was cool because we got so many presents from so many people.I love Christmas.

Net Book Reflection

In term one 2011 we got to buy net books.The best thing about having net books is that we dont only do work on it but can also play games. We have improved a lot in maths because we have a math whizz account which means we get to practice in a fun way. Editing our writing is another positive. If we need a dictionary we just search up dictionary and use that instead of getting up walking over to the shelf to get the dictionary and look for the word. Its so easy to get rid of your mistakes, you just press delete.

The only thing wrong with having netbooks is that at times there are problems that we can’t fix Luckily we have Nevyn, he is our technician guy. Another problem is that a few people use their net books in the wrong way such as going on facebook and social networks.

Despite  those negative things net books are much better than books. If we had to go back to paper I would be very very sad.

Billboards

 Last week in extension we had to choose a party that was running in the elections me and my friend calvin chose conservative.

I dont know if you know this but conservative is a very good party because the will lower the price of medicines and they will act tougher to criminals.

We also had to come up and draw a billboard along with a saying mine was "no need to worry about health prices anymore".

But sadly National came in first.

The Important Invention Named Chewing Gum

Funnily a man named Adam smith popped a lump of chicle in his mouth. He had an idea so he decided to add a mint flavor to it and heated it up.

In 1872 he opened up a factory named tutti fruity the shops refused to sell this product named chewing gum.so the tutti fruity factory sold it in slot machines at the railway station hmm I wonder what other flavors he thought of ?

Immersion Assembly

Wandering in to ‘The Breeze’ I saw the teachers dressed up and ready for our Immersion Assembly. I thought in my mind “I think I have a little clue of what we’re going to learn about,” I whispered to my friend as Mr Burt anounced the theme for term four. It was OUTA THIS WORLD. We’re going to be learning all about space.

One of my favourite items was the team four’s one because they sang one of my favourite nursery rhymes. It was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. They wore tutus and other ballerina items. But Mr Sommervile was playing the guitar for the song. The wiggles were sitting on the stars singing as well. But they were on the screen.


My most favourite item though was team fives because they were Star Wars people. They had replaced the actors faces with their faces. They had pulled a part out of the star wars movie and that was what they had used. My mum was Luke Skywalker.


I knew it was going to be about space. "I think this term is going to be fun" I whispered to my friend. Space here we come.

I Am The Whale

Frustrated that I couldn't get out of this huge net I was flapping my fluke and pectoral fins trying to get free but my pectoral fins where pined to the side of my body. I still couldn't get free so I decided to just float there waiting for help I was thinking mum or someone to help me. I heard some thing that i've never heard before I was still motionless it sounded like a rumble.

As the sound grew louder and louder, I could see something coming closer and closer. I soon realised  that it was a boat. I thought it was coming to kill me. Full of fear,I watched someone jump in the water with a knife. At this stage I thought I was going to die straight away but soon he started cutting the net I felt relived but I didn't expect a humane to help me.

Saving The Whale

Whale researcher, Michael Fishbach and his family propelled out over the glistening water of the Sea of Cortez in their small dingy making whale observation , unaware that soon they would help keep the life of one of the world’s most magnanimous creatures, a huge humpback whale.


Carefully approaching this magnificent creature, they saw no signs of life. They began to think that he was dead untill it forcefully exhaled sending water spray flying everywhere. They where all full of relief .

As fast as he could Michael quickly dove under the rippling water discovering that the whale was actually caught in a gill net made for trapping fish, but no, this one caught a humpback whale that weighed about 50 tones- that's nearly 50,000 kgs.

They furiously pulled and cut the net. At one point the whale thought it was free and pulled the boat about half a mile from there remaining spot that only took 30 Minuit's. The whale finaly tired and stayed there. They started to cut again.


Finally they finished cutting. With a sigh of relief they all screamed “yeah” and happily followed the whale.The whale swam away but stopped at about 5 meters away.


It started to give Michael and his family a big thank you show. With about 40 breaches and lots of tail and pectoral fin slaps, it finally said good bye and swam away.

Duffy books

This is my book that thank you to bucklands beach lions club kindly donated to me. It is about bad weather that efects the whole world. Did you know some winds held up an intermediate student.











This is a book called the rescue. But I haven't read it yet but i'm sure it will be a favorite book.another big thank you to THE BUCKLANDS BEACH LIONS CLUB.

 

Badminton

As I walked outside the wind was blowing. As we neared the breeze we could hear people in the hall. Suddenly it got louder and louder as we got closer to the hall. I peered around the corner and saw room 16 playing badminton. It sounded so fun.

There was a lady standing there and we had to come and sit down in front of the stage that Mr J was working on for the production. She introduced her self and her name was Lorene. She was our teacher for badminton.

Energetically we all jumped up and ran to get a racket. "I guess This is were the fun begins" I suggested in my head. We all rapidly sprinted to the bin filled with shuttles and grabbed them with great difficulty as people piled around to get one. She told us to hit it in the air as many times as we could. With ease I hit it in the air a multiple number of times.

She shouted "shuttles" we came and sat back down. I felt awesome and a little tired.I cant wait to go today.

Cross Country

"Ready to go room 14”exclaimed Mrs squires. “Sure but where are we going miss” I replied. “Cross country of course” she answered “ooo” I mumbled.

We all ran to the hard courts to get into our lines . As we sat down each group said their cheers. Our team was Takitimu. We are the yellow team.

We all nervously walked down to the start line “ready set go” Mr Burt shouted this was when we all sprinted to the course. I actually jogged so that I don't get drained of energy so fast . I was still full of energy until we reached the 1 k  mark across the muddy bridge I strolled. This was when I started to walk. My lungs were screaming.

At this point I was determined to reach the finish line although it was still 1 and a half ks to go. That's nearly two thousand metres. This course was really long and really dirty  with  a lot of shortcuts and narrow paths. I took some shortcuts of course. I smiled for all the cameras as I ran past them. Nearing the bridge I sprinted for the finish line. It was only 50 metres away.

“Wooh” I shouted as I ran through the finish line. I think I came 10th.

Digetive Syestem

This term the year 5 & 6 extension group have been working on what parts of the digestive syestem do what. First we were thinking of a way to solve a problem that was mainly in africa can you guess what it was ?......... thats right dirty water that they have to drink. I drew a powder that makes dirt sink to the bottom of what it is in. My part is the large intestine with megamind on it.

IT SNOWED IN AUCKLAND

August fifteenth a big day for Auckland........... It snowed. Well we don't get snow annually it normally comes once or twice each century. Or if we are lucky three times. You south islanders might be thinking we are making a huge fuss about it but it is so cool .

R.W.C 2011 Immersion Assembly

“IRELAND” cheered Mr J as we entered our Immersion Assembly. Out appeared Mr Somerville with an All Black jersey. I mumbled to my friend “I think I know what we are learning about this term.” “Me too” he replied. I couldn't wait for the teacher's Immersion items to begin.

Our turn came, team 4. We didn't have to go up because ours was a spectacular ...... movie . It was very funny because Mr Somerville, as famous former All Black George Nepia, had to ref his first game. He really did not know how to ref. He caught the ball and got a try himself. I hope I don't play in one of his games we might lose because he might come charging at us and score a try for the other team.

Finally the music started to play and we all walked out splendidly. Can you guess what we are learning about? We are learning about the rugby world cup 2011.But our saying is Keep Your Eye on the Ball.

Our Trip To Motat

On Wednesday we went to Motat .Before we got on the bus we went to the hall and got in our groups.walking out to the bus I felt so exited!Off we went to travel all the way to Motat .
Once we got there we hoped out of the bus and walked to the gate were we met a lady named Stacy,who was our educator.She took us to one of the classrooms and we ate our morning tea.
Our first activity was the tactile dome.We had to feel around for walls and ways to get out of the pitch black dome.As people went we could hear them through the microphone.
After that we split up into our groups and my group headed to the game room.There were games like PAC man street fighter and of course racing games.
A while later we went back to the class room and had lunch with everyone.Then we were given a map of were to go.The first on the map was the tram barn and the whisper dishes.So that is were we headed off to.
As soon as we finished that we rushed over to the mirror maze were another group was coming through.One of our group members ran into a mirror and injured himself. As soon as that happened he fell to the ground and was very dicey so he shouted out “Anthony”.

Before we had our last activity we went with Stacy to a different class room and learnt about kiwi and other country's inventions.There were things like phones,type-writers,cameras and Stacy even told us about some inventions that were invented by accident like the tea bag.
For our last activity we ran straight back to the game room and played for hours.We had competitions on the racing games.It was very challenging for everyone but I felt confident.
At the end of the day we met back to the classroom.Finally we walked back to the bus and went to school.We all felt exhausted and drained,that was a long day.

Isara Walking To The Pools

Strolling down the road two cars zoomed past creating an echo in my ears. Room 14 were walking down to the pools for our regular daily swim. Approaching the doors they drifted open, they must have sensed my beautiful body coming towards them. 
I ran into the dressing rooms and got dressed. I charged at the pool and sat down on the edge. “Get in “shouted Mr Somevilile. Diving into the pool I glided gracefully under the water. It felt like someone was stroking my hair as I glided through the smooth water. Hitting the surface I coordinated some movents they were stedy strokes and some furious kicking.
As I got into the breathing position I suddenly swallowed a gulp of water .Reaching the halfway mark I was determained to get to the end. I bobbed my head up and started to cough and splutter. Exiting the pool I was on my knees with shocks of cold slithering up and down my spine .

20hr Famine Go Blue Team

Some of the students at Pt England school are participating in the twenty hour famine to help the people on the other side of the world and to get a taste of what it feels like for them because they are very skinny and that have been hit by natural disasters. We are doing it tonight. I entered the twenty hour famine because I want to raise heaps of money and go hard out for the hungry, if you raise the most money you're the bomb.
Every two hours we get to drink some just just juice and have one or two barley sugars .If you are in the blue team then make sure that you raise over twenty dollars to donate because were only doing it for twenty or forty hours but imagine going with out food for weeks.

Pt England School Immersion Assemly

“So mate I wonder what were learning about this term?” I said to my friend “Wow I think we are learning about mad scientist because look at Miss Burne and her team”. As Miss Burne and her team approached the stage an enormous beaker popped out. She and her team tossed a multitude of ingredients in to the gigantic beaker, and out exploded a bubbly soap bar. The soap was Miss Walters. Miss Lavakula rapped to baby baby baby wash your hands while the other teachers were spraying water out to the crowd. At the end of assembly I mumbled to my friend “I think we are learning about bigger better faster stronger”.

Learn How To Swim

It is essential to learn to swim especially in New Zealand because we are surrounded by multiple number of fatal beaches and rivers in New Zealand. To be a successful swimmer you need to know these key tips they are have cupped hands and to do steady strokes the breathing position is with your head on your arm and roll to breath make sure you are very buoyant and not to be submerged under the water. You need to coordinate all these movements and remember to always have a powerful kick.

The Created Creature

At Point England school our inquiry this term is Bigger ,Better, Faster, Stronger. Team 4 are inventing some really cool things, so I designed a new animal on Hyperstudio. Hyperstudio is the programme that I used to create it.

I did not draw this creature I put images and created this horrendous , hair raising head that lives in rivers around Australia but is covered in feathers, and we only eat his torso. His legs are from a creature that provides us with milk and the males hate red and have horns.

Papa Watties 80th

I guess you are wondering who is Papa Watties is, he is my best friend Poitiki’s papa not mine .For his birthday we went up north to celebrate.
When we got there I looked out of the window and I saw the fattest pig ever. I thought we were going to put it in the hangi but no, he was just a guard pig. He was really freaky but after patting it I didn't feel so afraid.

The next day my family came up, that was the day that we had the hangi for Papa Wattie’s birthday .


When the birthday started he said to my uncle Kahui “Son son son come up here.” Uncle Kahui went up to the head of the table and said his mihi followed by Potiki’s younger brother Teina and his older sister Maia saying the blessings on the food. Finally came the time when we got to eat. I went straight to the dessert table while everyone was on the opposite side getting all the lunch.
After a huge, delicious feed it ended and we came back down, and I felt splendid .

We were at Swimarama and it was our time to go onto the Hydroslide.There were stairs that were two stories high.Finally I was there,I hoped in and the Hydroslide was so warm...for me.Drifting side to side,while gulping heaps of water,All the water spray out from the Edges I quickly jumped out to have another go.HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!

My picnic story

On Friday room 14 where so excited because we wanted to get muddy and squishy. Then we went.Thinking about the range of activities we would be able to do.

Walking cautiously down the mountain I took a wrong step and slid down the mountain and dropped on the drop . Finally came the time when I was on the beach I stared at the beach and then turned my head I saw people holding big huge balls of clay as I manuvuored over the gooey rocks. I grabbed a hand full of gluey clay I carved a ball.

Finally we packed up and started to walk back to school .I felt splendid .

Ready To Meet My Teacher

Greetings! It’s the 22nd of February 2011. It’s a very special day because my parents and whanau are going to meet my teacher. My teacher is Ms Squires. I’m very excited about all the neat things we’re going to this . Watch this space! 2011 here we come!

When Room 14 Got Their Net books

Last Friday Room fourteen got their net books. I was getting very furious because I thought we were going to open it straight away. But no, we had to listen to a big boring conversation first. Then came the time when Room fourteen opened their net books. We smashed the button and it turned on. The net book gave me a fright because it made a sound. We played on it all day long.

The Fishing Trip

Guess where I went in the holidays? My family and I went to Pukenui. When we got there, my best friend Potiki and I were begging to go fishing.

We begged and begged to go fishing so finally my dad said 'Yes'. We dashed to the door and grabbed our fishing rods and sprinted to the wharf, wondering if we were going to catch a fish or not.

When we got there we got heaps of bites and then we thought we got snagged, but no we saw a big fat Kahuwai waiting to be eaten by me and my best friend.

We reeled it in and ate it for dinner.
