Fun Times

Holidays are supposed to be fun right. If your holidays are boring then keep reading and if you are over 30 then you can give this a go but you probably won't succeed.

These are the things you will need:

  • soap (essential)
  • water or hose (essential)
  • trampoline ( extremely essential )

I am going write a step by step guide for some super awesome bright holiday fun.

  1. remove any sharp or hard bits of the tramp
  2. pour water on and soap up the tramp
  3. get on slip around and just have fun
Here is a clip of me playing on my tramp

Netbook

What am I ? I am a small black digital device, I have a keyboard and a mouse pad , I let people share their work with the whole world . Most students at Pt England school have me.

You guessed it I am a netbook. Well I am a year six at Pt England school which means I am lucky enough to get one of these magnificent devices. Netbooks are so awesome ,because not only can we learn from our teacher but all our friends ,sharing docs it takes one minute but has a huge impact.

We can now do any work at home ,which allows us to catch up on work so we don't get in trouble. If we want to ask questions or communicate we can e-mail.

We are really into movie making which is a real downer because there are no animating programs. Even if we did have an animating program we couldn't really animate with a trackpad

Sometimes the internet crashes ,which is not good at all for us, because all our work is online so we have to work offline but there is not as many programs as the internet.

I really want a class printer so that we can do art and be creative not everything digital. that would be a great solution for our drawing. So it looks like an awesome drawing.

Tree Lighting

“Hurry up Dad Mums waiting and we’re gonna miss the bus to the annual telecom tree lighting”
I exclaimed. We arrive in the school car park Mr Burt says “pick  any bus they are going to the same place I jump on the bus in front . Guess what ? Telecom provided both buses and we didn't even pay anything.

Pulling up by the big telecom building we were greeted by an awesome lady who goes by the name of Courtney. She gave us one bag each full of dinner ,and their was about seventy people.
She then walked us to Victoria park which was the place with the big Christmas tree it was huge it was one of the first things to catch my eye.

We were escorted to a certain area so that they could make sure we were doing fine. There were two phone booths that read talk to Santa I raced to the end of the line ,when I finally got in I wished for an i-pad well actually 65 of them a scooter and a huge candy floss maker YUM YUM YUM: ).

About an hour after that that awesome new boy band played Titanium. I thought they were in a studio like their voice was being edited as they sung. After that I went up to one of the singers and got one of his glow sticks.

Next one of the men from Siones wedding cracked some jokes with Santa and finally lit the tree up.I watched it get lit it was so awesome there was a ball at the top that looked as if it was spinning. We all then caught a bus back to school and eventually we went home.

There were many highlights that night but the thing that I thought was kind is that that whole night was free Thanks to telecom. I really want to say a huge thanks to telecom for that wonderful night.

Operation Flax

There are two new people moving in next door and they want to take out the flax. Because the flax are blocking the path on Mrs harpers property.

Freya and her Mum don't want the flax to go because mum makes kete out of the flax .Freya makes syrup which tui eat out of and that is a lovely to watch.

Freya and Mum try to persuade mrs harper to keep the flax by giving her presents. And it works. Mrs Harper has decided to put the flax at the back of her lawn so everyone wins.

My Triathlon

One day Room 17 did a triathlon . Tri meaning three and athlon meaning competition or an event. Everyone was looking forward to it. When we got there a man named mark explained what a triathlon was and the order which was. Swim bike and run.

On our one we didn't literally swim but he had a water slide. He sprayed everyone with a hose while they slid .

We ran into transition one, put on a helmet and started biking . As I biked  My calves burned I skidded around every corner. We did two laps of biking.

Running into t2 (Transition 2) I chucked my bike on the ground took off my helmet and started running.Sprinting towards the finish line I jumped and flew over the plastic string.

In the end I felt exhausted and very proud of myself. We all went back too class and did more work. I wish we could do it again.

The Bush

“Grab your crossbow son we are going hunting” exclaimed dad. “Where are we going?” I replied. “Just get in the car”. I’ve never liked going hunting so I didn't want to go but dad forced me.

He was acting weird while he watched the news this morning. Apparently there was a wave of deer running northwards up to a forest named fananga pu pu, meaning death trap in french. Nobody knew why these deer were running in a big pack up there but dad just took it as a good chance to hunt. I jumped in the car for a day I knew I wouldn’t forget.

We drove for hours through the hottest of desserts the coldest of mountains and the longest forests. I started to get a craving for food , “dad where is the lunch bag” “a good hunter doesn't need lunch” he said with a bad grin on his face I knew he had forgot it. “We are nearly there” I saw a sign reading “fananga pu pu two kilometres”.

We pulled into a driveway leading to a path. “Get out what are you waiting for your magic pumpkin to take you to your dance with cinderella”. Dad knows I hate his jokes.Dad told me to stay on the footpath many times.I never do though Without any warning I took of chasing one of the deer I ended up in the middle of nowhere I started to stress. I called out “help help” but there was no reply I checked my phone no signal.

Night had fallen I was nowhere to be found. I made myself comfortable and dozed off. I woke up untouched that morning dad would have sent a search party for me . I heard people shouting Isara Isara I felt so relieved that they had found me I shed a tear or two. Hugging dad I said “thank you thank you”.

P.E Shops

Messing around on my bike outside on a Monday morning I glared over to shops and noticed that there was nothing, I don't know why.  It was very quiet this morning almost too quiet. I cycled back to my house .  Mum was waiting in the car I jumped in, Isara where have you been she exclaimed I pretended I didn't hear because I knew I wasn't supposed to go any where near the shops. Although I never knew why.

That afternoon I checked the mail, the newspaper sat on top of all the others. The front page read shopkeeper dead at Pt England shops.

Grabbing my bike I cycled as fast as possible to the shops. EHHHH my wheels skidded about two metres along the footpath pulling to a stop in front of three policemen behind a yellow tape reading caution do not enter crime scene. There it was, the body of the shop owner with a knife directed right into the stomach. Blood dripped out as they carried the body into the ambulance.

The next day it was on the news that the investigators can not find the person who robbed and killed the shop owner.  Apparently they have all the latest technology for DNA and all this other stuff. They say it is near impossible that he could do this but we will carry on .

That night I did some research I realised every first monday of every month there was a reporting of a killing or a robbery . The month before this one there was a robbery at ohu ohu street then I dug deeper and another robbery at naana rd .

I sat and looked at it and it was going in alphabetical order.

Jumping on the computer I searched nearest dairy starting with Q and the first that popped up was Queen street. Thinking about what could happen all the rest of this month .I called 111 on the last day of the month (June) . I told them to get four armoured police to get on the site the next monday.

They hid in every corner of the shop. The owner wore bullet proof body armour and was armed with a gun. One of the policemen was behind the counter protecting the owner.

That afternoon at about five o’clock a man walked in with a black ski mask . All policemen in the building jumped up and pointed their gun at him, he raised his hands and the four men ran at him.  The first pulled of his mask he was a brown solid built man with a scar across his face.
They requested a police van to take him away to live the rest of his life in prison.

On that tuesday I looked at the paper this time the cover was robber in prison thanks to a local hero Isara. Mum saw it and threw a fit. Police came and rewarded me with a medal my mum felt very proud of me and then cried.

The Hungry Wave

Getting ready for school in their house. There it was rumble “mufuie” which means earthquake

The ruffling and tumbling earthquake was over but when Anna went to school she  saw the sea going out wards. Then a big tidle wave came ana ran back to the fale (house) and told every one to run tsunami .

Niko and Sna ran leaving their family behind. Ana got caught while Niko was on the other side of the mountain she looked back at the destroyed village. Niko on the other hand was sitting on a stable branch wacing the water flow near his feet.

In Samoa. anna's mum sina and her two brothers niko and mika threw themselves to the ground.
Out popped a head. Ana he shouted! Holding her hair he pulled her up. She thanked him alot and gave him a huge hug . Luckily for her village no one died but not so lucky. That night they slept on a woven mat.

Sea Attack

Sitting on the bank I watched my friends play on the rock. It was the summer holidays. We went to Piha beach in the morning. The waves crashed on the rocks creating a white fluffy substance. My mum was at the dairy buying ice creams for us, so we were not under supervision.

My friends (Jake and Josh) looked like they were having a bunch of fun playing in the water. So I decided to give it a go, but when when they got out I felt as if I was not alone. I saw somthing peer out of the water. It had three eyes it looked like a jelly fish but it was not. I screamed in terror “ahhhh”. Jake and Josh watched the sea monster tear off my leg. I was shouting, “help help”.

Jake ran to the lifeguard tower telling them to get a speed boat and guns to shoot this ugly monster.Josh watched me get smashed as it took my other leg. The life guards finally started frantically shooting the monster.

It died. The fight was over the lifeguard pulled me up and got me onto a stretcher. They rushed me into hospital. My mum saw me and put her thumb out to the ambulance. She hopped in and tears ran down her eyes. I was permanently disabled to this very day.

Boxes

Today we have made a box. Here is a tutorial for it.

First fold two creases in a full paper.

Now fold two sides in and then back out.

Then fold it the other way.

And make the four corners come to the first crest.

Put the long FLAPS that are left go to the side over two corners.

Then open it up and pinch the corners and there is your box.

Basketball

Weekends are full of fun stuff .Guess what I did in the weekend ?I went over to the school with my dad to play Basketball and play around with the ball.

The reason I went with my dad was because he is my basketball coach .I go around to the school about three times a week. But sometimes he doesnt want to go so I go by myself. Every time I go I try to improve my shooting so I try 100 shots every time.

Sometimes if i'm lucky some of my sisters may come but that has only happened once or twice.I always try to get more people to come such as .My Mum ,My Dad and all three of my sisters..

At school most of the boys come to basketball training. Our aim is to go to AIMS in year eight and win if we are lucky.Next week we play our first basketball tournament ,yeah.

Basketball is one of my favourite things to do.Overall basket comes out in second place.

Shot Put

My writing is for people who want to know more about Shot Put,its history and what is involved in this sport.

Shot put is a track and field event it involves putting/throwing a metal ball in the air as far as you can.The men's shot put weighs 7.260 kgs but the woman's is about half weighing 4 kgs.

The history of this event actually came from soldiers that threw rocks to attack their enemies. Soldiers had competitions for who could throw a cannon ball the furthest .The first time that they actually threw shot puts as a event was early 19th century Scotland, and was in the British amateur championships in 1866.

There are two main styles of throws, the spin (which is what the male athletes use) And the glide which is what Valerie Adams uses. It is simply facing the back and doing a 180 spin and then letting go of the metal shot put. With the spin is a bit more complicated ,you face the back which is the same, but then you spin 1 and a half times which is a 720 degree spin and that's the hard part and let go.

Although you are trying to throw it as far as you can, there are a few rules:

  • Once the athlete's name is called out they have sixty seconds to be in the circle
  • The athletes can't have anything on their hands except a grippy powder.
  • The metal shot put has to be released above the shoulder .
  • You must leave the circle at the back (This one I found quite funny)
  • The throw must land in the throwing area which is 34.92°

The shot put is made up of different types of metals which include iron cast iron, solid steel, stainless steel , brass. But there are also man made materials like polyvinyl that some shots are made from.

So Over all I think shot put is the best track and field event. I think I deserve a 14 out of 18.

Stress Busters

This is a presentation I made about stressing.

The Day Before Tommorow

Boom the earthquake hit tsunamis coming from each end that I could see.The end of the world happened everybody was dead but not me because I was in a bullet proof, earthquake proof everything proof bunker. I waited five hours in my underground bunker but only to make sure that the end of the world was finished.

I came out of my bunker finally I could see light . Praise the lord I shouted this time homes where busted even my house but my car  was in great shape because it was in the force field that I created it covered everything i wanted I covered the white house mcdonalds this awesome shop that has so many lollies and the movies and much more.

I went to mcdonalds and made me a big mac with extra mayo and five paties it was delicios then I flew a plane to america and went into the white house. Then i went to the gym and played on the bouncy trampoline.

Then suddenly beep beep beep my alarm went my mum shouted get in the car were going.I got my self to school and that was my night.

Swimming Medly Relay

...In a medley swimming relay there are four people that do four different strokes. They must (or they will be disqualified ) do it in this specific order, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle.

The first person has to swim to the other end and back that is 100 meters. Then when he comes back the official will tell the next peson when to jump in.So the aim is basicly to swim fast.

Tight, light, and streamlined is the type of clothing you need for a fast and furious swim, there are a few things that are also compulsory that is cloths. If you wear tight clothing it will decrease the drag. But there are a few things that aren't actually cloths that swimmers wear ,those things are swiming caps and gogles

If you want to be in this event you need to be fit and have big lungs and train 6 hours a day.Big muscles helps the arms to go faster which means a faster swim.

I think this sport is a very fun to wach and to play .

Why Does A Bee Sting ?

Only rarely stings ,it only stings if it has been provoked. They basically have a bee rule it is only use this wepon (that nature has provided) if we are trying to kill them. So it is just self defence.

The bee's stinger is a sharp fine barb, this injects a drop of poison through a tube. Did you know it's only the worker bees that stings ?

You may have heard that a bee can only sting once well that is false. What normally happens is that the victim of the bee knocks it of tearing the stinger , this injures the bee soo badly that it dies. But if you care about the bee you will carefully pull the stinger out of yourself.

So it is true abee can stay alive after it stings, if we dont pull it away from the bees body.

Bobsleigh

In extension we have been learning about the olympics. We had to choose one sport and do a little researching about it. I chose bob-sleighing even though they wont be in the olympics this year.

In a bobsled there are four people the one in the back controls the brakes, the two people in the middle lean, and the person in front steers. But however they dont use a steering wheel like a car, but by pulling ropes.

Torch&Motto

Swifter, higher ,stronger the motto which all olympic athletes stand by.The whole point of the olympic games is to give it your all . This motto encourages him or her to just focus and do their best. So actually every olympic athlete is a winner even though they didn’t win.

Months before the games the flame is lit by the sun's rays in olympia greece to keep the tradition going . It is then carried by relay through many cities. Then to reach the place where the olympics will be held.

On the day of the olympics the torch its run around the stadium. It will continue to burn through out the games . But it  is extinguished at the closing ceremony.

Chariot Racing

Did you know chariot racing was the most popular sports in the Ancient Greek Olympics? It was a very dangerous sport, and it was often it was just to show of soldiers' strength. Most of the time they competed in the hippo drome.

The hippodrome was a semi circle. In Greek words hippo ment horse and dromo ment race or course. The hippodrome was similar to the  Roman Circus.

The Olympics

The Olympic rings are very well known ,so is the man who created them( baron  pierre de coubertin) . The olympic rings are interlocked to show that the five continents come together to compete in this tournament. Did you know that there is at least one of the colors in the olympic rings in every country's flags ?

The olympic flag is hoisted at the start of the games to represent  the beginning at the opening ceremony . As the games go on the flag waves in the air ,with the rings which stand out on a white background. At the closing ceremony the flag is lowered to signal the end of the games.

The Bill

There once was a boy called jamie. He was very dumb he can't spell at all. But he loved toys ,a bit like me.

He was bankrupt with no money, but he wanted to get some walkie talkies, but they were 50$ . So he had to come up with an idea.

He sent his mum a bill with all the jobs he does for his mum, which funnily added up to 50$  just enogh to buy the walkie talkies. But that doesn't work .So his mum sends a bill back to him but its not really a bill because because he doesn't need to pay anything for all the nice stuff she does for him.
so he decides to send the bill to dad so he still gets his walkie talkie.

I wish I would get that much money. But thats not my life.

Gorillas

Can you guess what im writing about they are huge animals a type of primate the male is a silverback and they live in africa ? Yes they are gorillas. The biggest primate in the familly .

Gorillas natural habitat is tropical forests or sub tropical but only in Africa. Most gorillas live in lowland swamps except the mountain gorilla they still live in forests but up high in the mountains. They can reach an altitude of 2,200–4,300 metres that's pretty high.

Did you know that the gorilla is a relative of the human but even closer to us is bonobo or the common chimp. The DNA is so similar to a humans it is 95-99% well it depends on what you're judging.
Gorillas live in a group called troops there is usually only one silverback (male gorilla) in a troop. However there is multi male troops but that is not too common.Male gorillas are called silverbacks because of their beautiful silver hairs on their back that comes from maturity. They also have larger teeth which also comes from maturity.silverbacks sometimes leave their troops to mate  with females and make a new group.

Gorillas maneuver around by knuckle walking but they also walk for short distances standing up while carrying food or as a defensive position. Adult males can be as tall as 1.65- 1.75 meters in height and can weigh up to 200 kgs. But female gorillas are normally half the size of males. Some gorillas are obese and can weigh 270 kgs that's 600 pounds.

The eastern gorilla is darker coloured than the western gorilla but the darkest of all is the mountain gorilla and they also have the thickest hair.Thats 3 ways to identify the differences between gorillas. The western gorilla has a reddish forehead and grayish hairs. So make that four ways.

Did you know that gorilla have nests ,they use it for night use and day use. They can be as big as 1.5 meters thats nearly as big as a doorway. I know what your thinking how does it hold such enormous weights well gorrilas are so smart that they actually plans it out.

So thats why they are my favourite animal.I wish I had a pet one.
